At the time of Lion Capital’s acquisition, Kettle Foods was a leading brand in the premium kettle-cooked potato chip category with a commitment to producing with all-natural ingredients and without trans fats, artificial flavors or preservatives. During the investment period, Kettle added a second state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in the U.S. leading to significant distribution and market penetration gains in the U.S. and UK. Strong revenue growth and margin improvements led to 30% annualized growth in profitability and the business was sold to Diamond Foods, Inc. (NASDAQ: DMND).
