At the time of Lion Capital’s investment, HEMA was an international general merchandise retailer with ~400 stores across the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg, France, Germany and the UK. The company sold an extensive product offering in every household category under the HEMA brand which enjoyed virtually 100% brand awareness. During the investment period, HEMA added 360 new stores and expanded internationally into France, Spain, Austria and the UK. CPC realized its investment in the business through a secondary sale.
